Good news for Malibu families trying to rebuild their homes … according to the county fire and water departments.

The fire chief and waterworks boss appeared before the Malibu city council last night to say that the water pipes in almost all the city are too small … but are still big enough to meet the county’s tough water flow requirements.  Details: https://www.radiomalibu.net/county-fire-and-water-departments/

In news from down the coast … San Diego is also faced with a flood of homeless people living in cars near the beach. And San Diego officials said Monday … they will pass a new version of the city’s vehicle habitation law … which banned living in vehicles. Finally this morning … Malibu High School’s orchestra played Carnegie Hall last night.

KBUU listener Pat Cairns posted a picture on her Facebook account.

She writes …

“What a joy to be in Carnegie Hall in NYC and watch and hear the very talented MHS Orchestra play. 

“Congratulations to the students as well as their parents who have encouraged them.

“Kudos to their amazing teacher, Dr Maia Zander who has developed their talents … (and) their elementary teachers who taught them from the beginning.”

Some of those kids … we assume … lost their houses in the fire.

The Malibu High choir performs at Carnegie Hall next month.
