The PCH Follies: Illegal Truck U Turns – Motorheads Return – Topanga Reopened

Written by on January 21, 2019

Trucks making illegal U-turns in Western Malibu … another joy of driving on PCH.

Malibu West got a taste of the future … in terms of the heavy truck traffic that was observed this holiday weekend in Trancas Canyon.

One truck a minute was filled with debris in the basins up the canyon.

County crews and trucking firms hauled the dirt and rocks and ash to a temporary holding yard at Zuma Beach … Trancas tower 14.

Truck drivers were spotted repeatedly making U-turns on PCH  …. many of them from the right shoulder at Guernsey Avenue.

Illegal.  And dangerous.

Loud groups of car enthusiasts returned to Malibu on Sunday.

Loud clusters of cars speeding and making stupid noise on the highways.

At 7:30 last night … a sports car driven by a man was spotted speeding in Malibu Canyon.

This genius went off a cliff…. down 150 feet into the canyon.

Minor injuries.

Your tax dollars at work hauled the victim up the cliff…. along with volunteers from the Malibu Search and Rescue team.

The 25 year old male driver is suspect of drunken driving.

Caltrans reopened Topanga Canyon Boulevard last night.

A section of hillside between the village and PCH was closed for five days because of rockfalls.

This is in the cliffs lining the lowest oart of the road.

The state has plans to install more than a half mile of streel netting on the rocks there … to lessen the chance of rocks hitting cars and cars hitting rocks.

You can expect additional closures to be scheulded.. as more than 3,500 linear feet of steel netting will be installed in the rckfal area.

These nets have proven highly effective on PCH and other state highways.

These scheduled closures will be announced a week in advance.
