Stan Kroenke, Malibu’s Billionaire NFL Team Owner, Forcing Mom And Pop Stores To Close

Written by on June 23, 2020

One of LA”s richest men is forcing mom and pop stores out of his Malibu shopping center … and city leaders are not happy.

Stan Kroenke owns the L A Rams and a host of major sports teams … one of his mansions is above Paradise Cove

He is married to Ann Walton  a Walmart heiress … and built a 10 billion dollar fortune by constructing shopping centers around Walmarts. .

And he owns the Malibu Colony shopping center … much of it vacant … and about to lose yet another mom and pop store.

At last night’s city council meeting … the next Malibu mayor didn’t criticize Stan Kroenke by name … but criticized his actions.

Mike Pierson  says merchants in Kroenke’s shopping center are bleeding.. [TIGHT]

“They’re having an incredibly tough time.

“That Center is not making it easy.

“They’ve done nothing to help the retailers from what I can see.

“We all know that Gene at the Vitamin Barn is probably giving up.

“He’s already in an incredibly tough spot and then coded on top of that and no help from the landlord.

“And I know that other businesses are impacted as well. But that center appears to be a lot more impacted form the conversations that I’ve had.”

Pierson says the shopping center owner has rebuffed efforts to help tenants at the shopping center near Ralphs.

Kroenke apparently could care less about filling vacant spaces at Malibu’s largest commercial shopping center.

He has left the space once occupied by Wolfgang Puck’s trendy Granita restaurant vacant .. for the past 15 years.

Incidentally … Mikke Pierson will succeed Karen Farrer as the rotating Malibu mayor in two weeks.
