SMMUSD Says MHS Kids Can Change Pandemic Grades To Credit/No Credit If Dissatisfied With Teachers’ Marks

Written by on May 9, 2020

The Santa Monica Malibu school board has adopted new grading policies for the stay at home academic year.

High school kids are going to get letter grades based on performance up to the beginning of the lockdown … on March 13th.

That will be the grade for the entire semester ….

But if there is evidence of sufficient gains in student learning and progress is apparent from the work completed during distance learning . that grade can be raised by the teacher,

Students in grades 9 through 12 shall also have the option to take a Credit or No Credit grades –  instead of a letter grade – for any courses for the entire second semester of 2020.

Middle school kids are all going to get credit or no credit grades.

Elementary school teachers will provide ongoing feedback to students and families that will culminate with a written narrative that reflects student performance over the course of the year, including progress made during distance learning.
