PCH Mayhem Over The Weekend May Be Due To Closed Mountain Roads

Written by on September 13, 2021

Did you notice the extra idiots on PCH last night?  Fairly predictable.

This fall … because of fire danger … state and federal officials have closed roads in the Angeles National Forest.  This includes the Angeles Crest Highway … the road usually taken over by racing motorcycles and fast cars.

Just like last winter … the closure of the mountain roads in eastern L A County has squeezed many of those weekend jockeys to PCH.  A noticeable uptick in fast and furious driving last night in Malibu.

And … the CHP now says an innocent driver was killed when a Jeep crossed over the center stripe into her lane on PCH near Deer Creek on Saturday.  It smashed into an oncoming car and killed the driver of that second vehicle.

The innocent driver was identified as 62-year-old Los Angeles woman … Alba Arias.

The man who crossed the center line was identified publicly only as a 39-year-old man from Oxnard.  He is alive.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and the CHP says he suffered moderate injuries.  But his passenger, a 34-year-old Oxnard man, suffered major injuries and was med-evaced out.

PCH was closed for five hours while the crash was investigated.
