Paradise Cove Sewer Project Hit With City ‘Stop Work’ Order – Jewish Center Plans Major Expansion

Written by on March 3, 2020

The owners of the trailer park at Paradise Cove they have learned the hard way you have to have a city permit to build a project.

A complete reconstruction of the trailer park’s two sewage treatment centers began more than two years ago … but got hit with a stop work order from city inspectors.

The new sewage treatment center has been ordered by the State Water Board … to clean up groundwater and oceanwater in the cove.

It will allow the installation of about 12 new mobile homes at Paradise Cove.

The state water quality control Board ordered construction of the new sewer plant … and as we say construction began in October 2017.

Then the city found out about it and ordered works stopped …. even though the project is nearing completion … but is not yet operational.

A 54 page environmental report has now been prepared for the half-finished project.

The Paradise Cove sewage plant replacement project is out for public review.

And not far away … the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue is also proposing a major project.

The center plans to add a two-story … 16 thousand 4 hundred square-foot classroom/administration building.

It would have two underground levels … one for 28 parking spaces and the second for storage.

The new building would replace the four modular buildings at the west end of the property.

There would also be a new synagogue building … about 2 thousand square feet.

It would be in the center of the property.

The striking building at the east end … designed by archtitect Ed Niles … would be untouched.

The Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue project is also up for public review and comment right now.

The comment period extends through March 20.
