Mental Health Workers Invited To Meet Experts

The local school district is inviting mental health professionals to a meeting next week.

Two experts from an Israeli trauma and crisis response team will discuss ”Principles of Disaster Mental Health: Tools for Recovery” at a seminar for local professionals who work with kids.

Dr. Norman Blumenthal Tzivy Reiter are with the Trauma and Crisis Response at OHEL. Blumenthal is a nationally recognized expert in trauma. He and Mrs. Reiter have responded to local and national crises ranging from 911, to Hurricanes Sandy and Harvey, to the Synagogue shootings in Pennsylvania. 

They will be discussing provision of mental health services in the wake of a large scale disaster. 

There are specific differences between disaster response … and mental health services … and this will be highlighted with a focus on building resilience.

The seminar is Tuesday morning at Malibu City hall.
