An incredible amount of news this morning:

——

The cement had to set.

That’s the reason why Malibu residents saw nobody working at the emergency water main repairs on Pacific Coast Highway in the Palisades over the weekend.  Details: https://www.radiomalibu.net/irate-pch-motorists-in-lane-closure-told-the-cement-had-to-set-and-the-pipe-had-to-be-fixed/

——

Malibu’s schools may soon be Malibu-only … with no almost kids admitted from outside the exact Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District boundary.

That would put an end to kids from over the hill … places like Monte Nido or Seminole Hot Springs … from attending Malibu schools.  Details: https://www.radiomalibu.net/smmusd-may-disallow-kids-from-over-the-hill-parents-worry-it-will-choke-malibu-school-district/

Controversy over the killing of a mountain lion in the Santa Monica Mountains region continues.

Last Friday … Malibu State senator Henry Stern demanded that the state Department of Fish and Wildlife take urgent action to prevent ranchers from killing mountain lions in the future. Sheriff’s investigators and volunteers searched the canyons and steep mountainsides along Latigo Canyon Road on Malibu.

They were looking for clues .. looking for anything. … related to the disappearance of Julia Snyder.

It’s been eight days since the 53-year-old woman left her home on Ocean View Drive … two miles above P C H.

Snyder is on medicine for a bipolar disorder … her dosages were changed … and her that may have caused her to walk out into the night … wearing flannel pajamas and a white shirt … without her purse or cellphone.

Meanwhile … a young man who went missing on Malibu Road over the weekend … and who was also being sought … has reportedly returned home.

——

The summertime traffic jams at Nobu and The Soho House have been a perennial problem in Malibu.

And a continuing issue of discussion at the Planning Commission .… which has been unable to enforce City rules against the two restaurants blocking traffic on Pacific Coast Highway.

The latest effort involves hanging some surveillience cameras across the road … to focus on P-C-H traffic flow.

Traffic engineers from the restaurants and the city are looking at the traffic flow … both in the Nobu/ soho House parking lot … and on PCH.

Their solution … have Caltrans re-stripe the highway somehow.

This may eliminate the problem of cars in one direction trying to turn left into the restaurants …. Using the 2 Way Ctr. left turn lane.

And people also trying to turn left into McDonald’s.

No details have been released on the proposed solution.

——

The California presidential primary is here.

Absentee ballots have already arrived in the mail … for most people.

And voting will start in Malibu on Saturday.

The 11-days of voting will begin with the opening of an 11-day voting center at the former Juan Cabrillo Elementary School …. on Morning View Drive.

It’s one of above 500 places across L-A County where voters can vote … startign Saturday.

And yes … you can go into any one of those voting centers anywhere in L A County to cast your local ballot.

And yes … you can take your absentee ballot to any one of those 11 day voting centers to cast your ballot.

As we get closer to the election … a second Malibu voting center will open at Bluffs Park.

——

Speaking of the presidential election … Donald Trump will make a campaign stop in Beverly Hills tomorrow.

This will affect traffic on the westside tomorrow afternoon and evening.

We will have details on that tomorrow.

——
