And in news from just up the coast … the Thomas Fire was one year and one week ago.

It destroyed nearly 500 houses in the city of Ventura alone.

Yesterday … two ribbon cutting ceremonies were held.

The first two rebuilt houses in Ventura are finished.

The Ventura County Star  reports the Clearpoint neighborhood above Ventura is a hotbed of construction activity.

Several other homes are in phases of construction.

The city of San Buenaventura has issued 165 building permits for new houses … 410 permits issued for repairs … and has 106 plans in review … with building permits pending.

The impact of all that construction just up the coast from Malibu … and the 900 houses outside Malibu also lost n the Woolsey Fire … will likely affect rebuilding here.

That part of the fire story … is only now emerging.
