Flagrant Nobu Violations AGAIN Go Before Planning Commission

Written by on March 13, 2019

When will Nobu clean up its act???

That’s the question as the city planning staff os recommending yet another extension for the popular celebrity restaurant … which is violating city coastal permits at its wildly popular restaurant near the Malibu Pier.

Nobu has a conditional use permit that gets renewed every year … if the Planning Commission finds it in compliance with the conditions that the city imposed on it.

Nobu has been wildly out of compliance.

It added too many seats … those were removed.

It added storage containers next to the Pacific Coast Highway …. it removed those.

And it is parking its patron cars and employee cars off the site.

That is not allowed … and it is a source of continuous frustration for drivers in the traffic knot that develops on summer days in front of the restaurant.

City staff is asked to put off  judgment day for two more months … until late May. .

This … they say … is necessary “to allow the operator to bring the operation into compliance with the CUP or submit an amendment to the existing CUP to address the violations.

Despite frequent run-ins with the city … Nobu continues to install facilities in its parking  lot that are not allowed.

Most recently … it has put in an outdoor speaker system and structures in the parking lot … and relocated its entrance to encroach into the parking lot … which is already woefully overcrowded.

the use of offsite parking for the valet and employees has also raised concerns

Other items are also in conflict with the approved plans and conditional use permit.

The matter gos before the city Planning Commission next week.
