FEMA Can Fund Septic Tank Repair

Written by on January 4, 2019

FEMA covers septic tank damage.

That starting news released by the federal government yesterday.

FEMA says Malibu residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the November wildfires may be able to get help paying for some household repairs not usually covered by insurance.

Repair or replacement of fire-damaged septic systems and wells may be eligible for grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

SBA … the Small Business Administration … and FEMA are working together in Malibu.

SBA spokesman Sushael Kumar says federal aid is available as a backup.

SBA 111  QQQ COME TO BEAR.

“For every disaster, the first line of defense is insurance.

“The second line of defense is personal resources, cash.

“If you have both, you don’t need FEMA or SBA.

“Shortage of either one of them, or lack there of?

“Then our resources come to bear.”

The FEMA grants are not intended to restore homes to pre-disaster conditions.

The federal assistance is only available to restore dwellings to livable and sanitary conditions.

The deadline to register os January 11th … one week from today … and the SBA and FEMA workers are not laid off … due to the federal budget crisis.

Kumar tells KBUU News that FEMA and SBA money is available to most anyone with a need.

SBA 2222 QQQ FOR MITIGATION MONEY

“We assist most private nonprofits, homeowners and renters.

“So personal property up to 40,000 dollars, including automobiles for renters; we have $200,000 for homeowners; and $40,000 for personal property.

“Another $40,000 for mitigations, to build safe zones, or Insurance deductibles for mitigation money.”

If people discover their septic systems are damaged … step one is to register with FEMA.

Then … notify the FEMA-contracted housing inspector of the damage to their septic system or private well at the time of inspection.

Those not registered may sign-up online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
