Every Single Burned House In Malibu Is On Way To Dump, City Says

Written by on May 29, 2019

The pipeline is opening up for reconstruction of the 450 or so houses that were burned in the fire 201 days ago.

The Malibu Planning Department has issued the second building permit for actual construction of a replacement house.

It’s on Bluewater … on Point Dume.

The first building permit went to a home on Paseo Canyon last week.

The city’s building chief …Craig George …. says the recovery effort is passing some significant milestones.

“I’m happy to report that the debris removal program is well underway, it’s almost completed.

“The Cal OES is ramping up their ops in the WF area, they are primary in the county, there are a couple of spots.

“There is no nonresponsive properties at this time, everybody has come into the city or into the county on some sort of program.”

That means the city will not have to enter private property to remove fire debris without the owners’ permission …. every single lot is going to be cleaned up.
