Written by on December 2, 2020

The Covid-19 crisis is worsening …

The number of positive cases diagnosed in the Malibu area has gone up by another four … thats 17 cases in two days.

157 now within the city … up one.

187 now in the Santa Monica Mountains … that’s up three.

About 75 hundred cases were diagnosed in L A County yesterday.

L.A. County is now forecasting up to 8,000 new coronavirus cases a day by the end of this week.

Maybe 9,000 a day by the middle of next week.

“The increases we’re seeing now are not sustainable,” says Doctor Barbara Ferrer.

“They’re not sustainable, because they’re gonna overwhelm not just our healthcare system, but the entire state’s healthcare system.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to announce a tougher response today.

Expect at least a three-week cutback on nonessential services and businesses.

Plus … a renewed stay-at-home restriction.

The resurgence of cases has brought back drive-up testing at the Malibu City Hall.

Malibu-area residents are being offered two types of Covid-19 tests at a drive-up testing center today and tomorrow.

Mayor Mikke Pierson says both nasal swab and blood antigen tests will be offered to people in their cars at malibu City Hall.

The nasal swab tests will be offered to anybody.

Malibu mayor Mikke Pierson says the blood tests will be offered to people who already are showing Covid-19 symptoms.

NEWSCART 73096 PIERSON TESTS

“People who have symptoms can get rapid antigen tests to help identify positive cases more quickly to help slow the spread of Covid 19 through our community.

“PCR results (nse swabs) will be available within 24 to 48 hours.

“The rapid antigen (blood) tests will be available within one hour.”

Again … People with symptoms of the Covid 19 disease will also be offered the blood tests.

The blood test results can be released within one hour of the blood sample being taken.

And as Pierson said … it will take 24 to 48 hours before the nasal test results are available.

The tests are essentially free … your insurance company will be billed … or the federal goverNment will pay for uninsured people.

No registration is needed … the tests are offered from 10 a-m until 2 p-m … and people must be in their cars in line by 2 p-m t be tested.

That’s today and tomorrow … from 10 t 2 … at Malibu City Hall on Stewart Ranch Road …. the extension of Webb Way … in downtown Malibu.
