City Council Tells Santa Monica: See You At The County Courthouse, Bub – Peak Switches Vote On Mask Fine Rule, But Too Late For Urgency

Written by on October 13, 2020

Last night the Malibu city council:

  • Walked away from “friendly” stalled school district split talks with Santa Monica, and voted to file for a divorce at the county Board of Ed.
  • Heard how a Malibu Unified School District will affect your property taxes – hint: it won’t.
  • Took no public action on the city manager’s job performance review.
  • Passed an ordinance setting fines for people without a mask – Skylar Peak shifted his vote to yes but too late for an urgency clause – law will not take effect for at least 6 weeks.
  • Adjourned early due to an all-of-a-sudden power outage scheduled at the last minute for 9:30.
