CHP Says ‘If You Want Us On PCH, We’re Willing To Be Hired’

The California Highway Patrol issued 160 traffic citations and arrested two drivers last weekend in Malibu.

Those two drivers were conducting a speed race on PCH … and one of them was found to be a drunk driver.

CHP Sgt Dave Kashihara tells KBUU News that the CHP and county sheriff’s department are working closely together on crackdopwns on weekend mayhem on the roads.

“The sheriffs (deputies) have been great.

“I reach out, we reach out back and forth really.

“But the minute that anyone of us get intelligence on a gathering or a group it’s as simple as a text message back and forth and we plan.”

Last weekend was the first time in years that the CHP conducted a significant traffic operation on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu itself.

And as Kashihara says … it was a cooperative effort with LA County sheriffs deputies.

The reason they were on PCH was because it was raining in the mountains … witches a CHP territory … so all the illegal bike riders and hot rodders came down to the sun.

Kashihara says Malibu residents could get more CHP coverage … if local governments come up with the money.

He suggested Malibu residents may want to talk to the city council … County supervisor Sheila Kuehl … and the local state senator and assemblyman about that.
