10 Inches Was Predicted, But Malibu Somehow Emerges Soggy But Not Flooded

Written by on January 18, 2019

Ten inches of rain was predicted over the past week … somehow … Malibu emerges soggy but not flooded.

There are no evacuations … the schools are open … and there’s no rain in the forecast for the next seven days.

In fact a mild Santa Ana wind is going to set up for tonight.

Peak wind gusts of 30 miles an hour in the mountains … 25 on the beaches.

The Malibu area was a bubble of minor rain in an ocean of downpours.

More than 10 inches in Ojail over the last 7 days … almost 8 inches over at the 405 in Sepulveda Pass.

We got 3 point 7 inches of rain here at Trancas.

Four and a half at Decker Canyon.

More rain fell east of the Woolsey Fire footprint.

The Monte Nideo fire station in Upper Malibu Canyon got 7.2 inches.

Camp 8 above Las Flores Canyon … 6 inches.

Big Rock Mesa … 5 inches.

Topanga Village … 8.4 inches.

To say Malibu city officials are breathing a big sigh of relief this morning … a significant understatement.
