Trancas Creek Bridge Plans To Be Unveiled At 6 Tonight On WebEx

Written by on July 15, 2020

In 1926 … the state Highway Department built a bridge across Trancas Lagoon.

Just after World War 2 … the state widened that two lane bridge … into the structure that’s there now.

The concrete is crumbling.

The supports are so shallow that there are electronic sensors on the bridge … feeding data via satellite … to detect if it is in danger of collapse.

The railing is way too low … some guy sitting on it to watch fireworks fell off and broke his back 10 years ago.

Construction on a new bridge is supposed to start next winter.

Caltrans and the City of Malibu will unveil plans for the new bridge … tonight at 6 on a computer meeting.
