Teachers, Parents Settle on Malibu Elementary School For Point Dume Campus

The people have spoken … a new name has been selected for the school on Point Dume.
And the new name is …. Malibu Elementary School.
The name was selected by teachers and parents at the school … as well as from Juan Cabrillo School … which is being merged into the Malibu school on Point Dume.
Many Point Dume residents were angry that they were losing the longtime name.
Some very angry reaction on social media … calling it disrespectful.
Teachers were given three votes … each family one … that in revogniztion of the teachers years at the school.
The Malibu Elementary School name now goes to the school board for ratification on Thursday.
The school name will change this summer.
Construction has already started to accommodate six portable classrooms to be brought in this summer … to handle to additional students from Juan Cabrillo.
