Someday, Maybe, Elementary Kids Might Go Back To School, County Says

Written by on July 23, 2020

There may be school for some kids … after all … much later this fall … in Malibu.

Maybe.

Preschools … kindergartens and elementary schools might get waivers to open … if and when the L-A County hospitalization rate for COVID 19 drops significantly.

Doctor Barbara Ferrer said yesterday that the state and county are working on coming up with criteria that might allow limited opening of schools.

35 counties in California are on the state monitoring list … including all of the counties soputh of the Tehachapis.

We will probably not be eligible for the school opening waivers.

The percentage of positive test results needs to drop below 8 percent … and the case rate average needs to drop below 25 per 100 thousand people.

L.A. County’s current case rate is 381 per 100 thousand people.
