Silverstein Demand For Investigation Into Feldman Met With Investigation Into Silverstein ‘Harassment’ of Feldman

Written by on March 4, 2021

Malibu residents may finally get a peek behind closed doors on personnel matters … at the city council next Monday.

That’s when the Bruce Silverstein allegations … of insider dealing or other corruption at city hall … are on the agenda … this time for a discussion in public.

The city council will discuss and vote on hiring an outside law firm to looking into the affidavit … collected by Silverstein from former city council member Jefferson Wagner.

Also … the city council will discuss hiring a lawyer to investigate Silverstein … to investigate what the city manager Reva Feldman says is the harassment of her by Silverstein … as alleged in her offer to resign.

There has been no official discussion or action taken by the city council .. only continued public barrages of criticism from Silverstein … with occasional reaction from the three member council majority that seems solidly in Feldman’s support.

The city council has held five closed-door sessions to discuss the allegations … collected by Silverstein from Jefferson Wagner … a former city councilman.

He says he was offered a bribe by a construction company that wanted a city bid … 12 years ago … but that the city attorney dropped the ball when he complained.

Wagner cannot remember who offered him the supposed bribe … or how it would affect a bid selection process that city council members have no direct decision on.

The city manager at the time was not Reva Fedlman … this was about 12 years ago.

City attorney Christi Hogan … who has just retired … says she does not have any idea what Wagner is talking about.

Wagner also alleges that the city manager Feldman approved the controversial crosswalk traffic signal on PCH in front of the Malibu Beach Inn improperly.

The city attorney’s office has promptly sent Wagner’s affidavit to the L-A County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit … which has not made any public comment.

That’s predictable … say some lawyers in Malibu … who have looked at the Wagner affidavit and see nothing criminal or improper.

But longtime critics of the city manager have seized on Wagner’s vague allegations as evidence of corruption and dishonest dealings at city hall.

Five law firms have offered to charge around 500 dollars an hour to investigate the affidavit.

The city council on Monday night will also take up a proposal from council members Karen Farrer and Mikke Pierson … who serves as the rotating mayor.

They want a lawyer to investigate Silverstein’s unrelenting streams of demands and emails and public document requests unleashed on the city manager … after he took office last December.

So many reqiuests came in from Silverstein that the city manager says she needs to hire another clerk to handle them.

But the Silverstein attacks went far beyond that.

The included calling Feldman all sorts of names .. including fascist … criminal … duplicitous and deceitful.

The city manager hired a lawyer … who says Feldman World will step aside if the city council pays off her contract … and who hints that a lawsuit would be likely to be filed.

Farrer and Pierson want Silverstein investgiated by another consulting attorney.
