Sheriff Villanueva Installed Spies And Cronies At Malibu Station, Seetoo Alleges

Written by on January 30, 2020

On Lieutenant Jennifer Seetoo’s first day at work in West Hollywood … she was shown her office and given nothing to do for her 12 hour shift.

And it was described by her boss as a promotion.

That little tidbit is in the lawsuit filed by the lieutenant … who had served one year as the top cop in Malibu before the humiliating … career derailing move.

Seetoo filed a lawsuit this week in Superior Court in Los Angeles … as well as a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

The lawsuit claims that Sheriff Alex Villanueva repeatedly promoted his male friends over qualified female deputies.

Villanueva applied more favorable standards to male employees than females generally.

Villanueva made disparaging comments about women within the sheriff’s department and to the media.

The lawsuit claims Villanueva blocked her from being promoted … directed his executives to demote her twice, belittled her, planted spies to watch her work, and criticized her success.

The lawsuit alleges that Villanueva told a reporter false and defamatory things about her … including intimating that she had an inappropriate relationship with a city manager.

When the new sheriff transferred Seetoo out of Malibu last year … a high ranking command staff member told KBUU News that the sheriff believed Seetoo had a bright future within the department.

Not true … if one believes the allegations in the lawsuit.

Seetoo is the third Malibu Lost Hills commander to be sacked by Villanueva after his election in 2018.

Lieutenant Jim Royal has also filed a lawsuit … claiming favortism and cronyism.

Villanueva has not commented on that lawsuit … a standard recommendation from lawyers.

Details on the Seetoo lawsuit were first reported by City News Service in the LA Daily News.

And the sheriff’s representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Seetoo’s lawsuitt.
