Written by on December 11, 2018

Caltrans officials say they hope to find some sort of solution soon for dozens of residents were still trapped outside of their houses … because of fire repair work on mountain and canyon roads west of Malibu.

Utility crews from Southern California Edison and Frontier Communications have their trucks on the roads.

Plus… Caltrans is replacing miles of burned out guardrails.

All well and good .. but the road closures have meant dozens of residents can not get back into their homes.

Resident Austin Padrat says he cannot understand why roads in the western Santa Monica Mountains have been reopened in Ventura County … but remained blocked off in L A County.

NEWSCART DECKERCYN :23 QQQ: TO OPEN THEM.

“The status of all of the surrounding routes encinal Canyon Mulholland and Decker Canyon State Highway 23 is that they are all still fully closed 32 days in.

With no information on when they will be open, and additionally no information about what milestones have to occur in order to open them.”

In Los Angeles, Caltrans spokesman Micharel Comeaux says the agency understands the angry residents … but has to protect workers.

The road is just too narrow and twisty to allow utility trucks … Caltrans trucks and residnets to drive on

Residents have appealed to state Senator Henry Stern .. a compromise may be in the works … a meeting is planned today to hash out a  way for residents to get onto their property.
