Rain All Week – How Much? Dunno. – When? Probably Monday.

Written by on March 15, 2020

Two big storms are moving towards Malibu this week.

The first is a cut-off low – a spinning low pressure system that is not being pushed by the prevailing jet stream.

“Predicting a storm like this is like predicting the random movements of a spinning top,” says the official NWS forecast..

“Needless to say, storms like this rarely go according to plan.”

When will get rain?

Hit and miss showers are possible Sunday afternoon, overnight and into Monday.

Periods of clear skies, too.

It is likely to start raining in Malibu starting Monday afternoon.

How much rain?

Here is the exact NWS rain forecast discussion:

“Rainfall totals across much of the region will average 0.75 inches to 1.5 inches in coastal areas and valley areas and 1.5 to 2.5 inches in the foothills and mountains with local totals up to 3 inches possible.

“Rainfall totals may be somewhat lower across L.A. County, where the frontal system will move through more rapidly.”
