Pepperdine Wants To Move A Mountain Up The Hill, Goes Before Coastal Commission Today

Written by on February 11, 2021

Pepperdine University goes before the California Coastal Commission today.

The are asking permission to move a mountain of dirt … up the mountain.

They are seeking permits to dig a huge underground parking garage … underneath what is now a surface parking lot near their sports fields.

The proposed new parking lot would have up to 304 spaces … and 201 of them would be new parking spaces.

But Pepperdine claims there would not be any resulting increase in traffic on PCH or Malibu Canyon Road.

It will be a huge project.

66,999 cubic yards of grading.

However, the project does not propose to increase enrollment, increase the total parking spaces approved under the Local Regional Development Plan, or otherwise alter the number traffic trips to or from the campus.
