Good news on the vaccine front … mixed with bad.

The scary California variant of the coronavirus may be easier to spread …. and harder to treat … but the three vaccines work against it.

Scientists at Duke University in North Carolina say that the three vaccines several vaccines should continue to provide an effective defense against

Their findings were published yesterday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The California variants are the likely cause behind the wintertime surge of the Covid disease the brought the state’s hospitals into crisis mode.

More than half of the cases in California are of the California variant … but it is variant that first was detected in Britain that is the predominant strain in the rest of the country.

The California variant has now spread to all 50 states and around the world.

Vaccines are now available to any adult who stands in line at some centers … such as the mass vaccination site at Cal State L-A.

But California is expecting about 90% fewer Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses next week.

The ruined vaccine at the factory in Baltimore is going to hit us hard.

That means fewer appointments are going to be available for first time doses … even as the state expands eligibility to any resident over age 16 on April 15.
