Malibu’s Congressman Busy In Key OC Races

Written by on November 6, 2018

Malibu’s congressional race has been very quiet.

Incumbent Ted Lieu has been keeping a very low profile … no need to campaign as he is heavily favored to win the extremely democratic leaning Congressional District 33.

Lieu is expected to again trounce Ken Wright … a dentist from the South Bay whom he defeated handily two years ago.

Lieu has been busy … overseeing the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee West They opened an office in California … headed by Lieu… as Democrats seek to flip the House from Republican control.

Democrats need to win 23 seats nationwide … and have targeted nine congressional seats from California … half of them in Orange or San Diego counties.

Lieu’s management of the other congressional races has seen millions spent … some of it in odd places.

Rolling Stone magazine reports that Malibu’s congressman spent money supporting Orange County Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher in the primary … to prevent a stronger Republican from edging out a democrat in the top two primary last June.

Lieu has been working out of Democratic offices in Irvine … to coordinate with the national democratic party to flip the key Congressional seats in once-solidly republican Orange County.

Will it work???
We will not know for several days.

Those elections are close and may swing on mail-in ballots.

Some observers in Washington predict that Donald Trump may make a huge issue out of the California vote count … charging voter fraud … as the vote count predictably drags on.
