Los Angeles County Public Health department officials have clarified … yes … masks are required by all people out in public in Malibu and the rest of the county.

Two days ago … Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that masks would as of that moment be required in the city of LA.

Oops.

L A County Public Health had already instituted such an order across all of LA County … including the city of Los Angeles.

Yesterday … director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer made it clear … go outside in Malibu … you must wear a cloth

“Our health officer order is very clear.

“Masks are in fact mandatory across the entire county when you’re outside of your home, not with members of your household and in any kind of contact with other people.

“Yes, this is in fact a part of the health officer order and were all required to use a clock face coverings.”

L A County officials are going to keep a nervous eye on virus statistics …

County supervisor Hilda Solis says the reopenings of the beaches as well as small stores … for curbside pickup … is being watched very closely.

“Reopening cannot mean jeopardizing the progress that we have made so far.

“How quickly we move onto the next stage of reopening really depends on everyone’s cooperation.”

The jury is still out on the health effects of reopening the beaches … but LA County officials say reopening the trails in the Santa Monica Mountains and elsewhere seems to have worked. County Public health director Barbara Ferrer said yesterday that health officials are closely monitoring the behavior of crowds on the beach.

So far so good … but the weather has been cool and windy and beat use in both most areas has been light in the two days that they were open.

Trails were opened last weekend … and fair was pleased to see the results.

“I do want to thank everyone who went out last weekend are you wearing a hot face coverings and I practice a lot of physical distancing and there’re actually no instances we are on the trail so thanks everyone.”

The beaches remain open for limited use … with the now-familiar rules.

“I know that many of us are also happy to be able to access our beautiful beaches again.

“And right now we can all use our beaches in active ways.

“We can walk jog swim surf and kayak.

“The beaches are not yet open for sports like volleyball or for activities like sunbathing or picnicking – so chairs umbrellas and coolers are not permitted.”
