A 3 point 6 quake hit the north end of the San Fernando Valley last night … at 11:41.

People felt the earthquake in various parts of the San Fernando Valley … but not so much in malibu.

Shaking was reported felt over an area stretching from Oxnard to the western side of the Inland Empire, and from Santa Ana up to the Antelope Valley.

“We are monitoring preliminary reports of a magnitude 3.6 earthquake in the LA area. T

here are no reports of any damage and/or injuries to the LAPD at this time,” Los Angeles police said on Twitter.

The L.A. Fire Department said no major infrastructure damage was reported and they have resumed normal operations.

The shaking did not trigger a warning on any app because it wasn’t a strong enough quake.

Construction has started on the replacement bridge over a Malibu Creek tributary … on Mulholland Highway … that burned during the Woolsey Fire.

The old wooden bridge had crossed Triunfo Creek … near Troutdale.

It had been there about 100 years … but all that was left after the fire was twisted steel girders and ashes.

A temporary single-lane bridge was erected alongside the ruined bridge . and traffic lights control the back and forth flow.

The new bridge will cost 7 million dollars.

Congressman Ted Lieu’s office secured federal funding for it.

At the same time that the U-S Senate is voting on subpoenaing Donald Trump … the L A county sheriff is facing a similar controversy.

The L A County Board of Supervisors has voted to give its investigative lawyers the power to subpoena documents from the sheriff … Alex Villanueva … and his office.

This ramps up the fight between the elected leader of the largest sheriff’s office in the nation … and the civilians elected to oversee it.

The supervisors voted unanimously yesterday to give its Civilian Oversight Commission subpoena power … after the commission said it’s been blocked from obtaining internal records needed to monitor the agency.

The watchdog agency says Villanueva has stonewalled its efforts to get information about the sheriff department’s internal discipline system and hiring process.

It also cannot gets documents related to secret groups of deputies …

These groups are accused of misconduct … cliques that have matching tattoos and operate like gangs within the department.

Like the White House… the sheriff is accused of refusing to hand over documents to the legislative agency that is supposed to act as a check and balance on his behavior.

Thing like putting a campaign aide … fired by the previous sheriff for lying and beating up his girlfriend… back on the force.

The sheriff has opened a criminal investigation into whether the county oversight commission has broken laws.

And Villanueva has refused to allow his deputies or command staff participate in civilian oversight commission meetings.

The Santa Monica Malibu school district has lost its sustainability director … the person in charge of making sure that the school district is as green as possible.

The district says the sustainability director … Caroline Coster … chose to resign halfway through her annual contract.

And the district is looking for a way to continue her work.

The sustainability director had worked with parents on projects like sorting garbage … recycling materials … and creating organic compost piles.

It’s a big deal in the local school district … according to the Santa Monica Daily Press.

More than 120 parents showed up three years ago to urge the district to create a sustainability program,

At recent school board meetings … parents have appeared to request that the district pick up the pieces.

Coster had set up dozens of initiatives … large and small … int he district.

And most of those programs continue …

This story was reported in the Santa Monica Daily Press.
