Traffic alert.

The main water supply for Malibu is leaking … and will be repaired starting tomorrow at 10 in the morning.

One lane of eastbound PCH will be closed, heading towards Santa Monica just past Sunset Blvd. for three, days and nights.

The pipe that has been leaking water for years … in the right lane of PCH at the Bel Air Bay Club.

County Waterworks officials say Malibu will have enough water for the three day pipe repair job.

“All the tanks are full and we will not have any problems” …  Dave Rydman told KBUU.

Nearly all of the water in Topanga Canyon and Malibu arrives via one pipeline from a treatment center near Culver City.

The very western tip of Malibu also has a connection over Encinal Canyon Road to water supplies from the Las Virgenes Water District, but that interconnection is very small.

The leak has been sending a “wet spot” onto the southbound lanes for more than 10 years, as visible to drivers.

The water main repair is near where construction is underway on a widening project at the double set of S-curves. pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to connect from Will Rogers Beach to the beach near Sunset Boulevard, as that project is finished.
