Malibu High School parents are invited to a special meeting this morning at 9 … to discuss last week’s security issues at the school.

As we’ve reported … two unrelated incidents have caused widespread concern and speculation.

District officials plan to answer questions … and explain how the confusion and rumors unfolded.

The meeting is at 9 a-m today.

The issue of overnight vacation rentals in Malibu comes back before a city council subcommittee Thursday afternoon.  And like cities around the world .. A gigantic underwater concrete structure that once transported electricity between three western states has to be removed from the ocean bed just off PCH next to Gladstone’s restaurant.  The L A Department of Water and Power has unveiled plans for tearing out the underwater concrete structures … called cathodes … and to rip out undersea cables that connect it to the western power grid. Join the City of Malibu for an evening of spooky Halloween fun for the whole family with the CineMalibu™ free outdoor movie screening of “Hocus Pocus” (PG) Saturday, October 19 at Malbu Bluffs Park. 

The movie begins at sunset, and pre-event activities start at 5:00 PM. Bluffs Park is located at 24250 Pacific Coast Highway (and Malibu Canyon).

Kids can join the fun and help design a Halloween-themed art piece with the Malibu Library, participate in relay races, three-legged and burlap bag races, egg relays, raffles and give aways and facepainting by Fancy Pantz Face Painting.

Delicious food will be available for purchase from the D’Amores Pizza food truck. Attendees are encouraged wear their Halloween costumes, and to bring gently used Halloween costumes to donate to a local charity to benefit at-risk youth.
