Written by on January 30, 2019

The Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District is asking the community what Schools should look like in the future … an important question as the district is about to start a $195 million makeover and it’s Malibu campuses.

Community members outside the schools … as well as parents … students and the school staff … are being asked about standards and requirements to update district campuses, buildings and classrooms.

These planning documents specify physical requirements for schools.

Hearings have already been held in Santa Monica.

Community needs that must be considered about things like shared community use of meeting spaces and playing fields.

After gathering public feedback, the plan will be submitted to the Board of Education for approval.

The Malibu meeting is tonight from 630 to 830 … at John Webster elementary school at the Malibu Civic Center.
