Trailer Generators Still Humming 6 Months After Power Restored

Written by on June 25, 2019

Some seven months after the Woolsey Fire destroyed much of western malibu … many Malibu residents have noticed that diesel-powered motors are still generating electricity across the burn area.

At least a half dozen trailers are still chugging away … loud … emitting smoke … 24 hours a day.

The trailers are connected to cell phone antennas and computers used by the Sprint cell phone system.

But … they are on power poles where the Southern California Edison electricity was restored six months ago.

Malibu resident Jonathan Kaye notes that the generators are on PCH, Kanan, Malibu Canyon and even in some residential neighborhoods.

One generator on Murphy Way is within 50 feet of a house …  running 24 hours a day, spewing exhaust with a loud motor noise.

Jonathan Kaye says he has already sent notice to the California Public Utilities Commission … no response there.

And he doesn’t know where else to go.

We’ve asked Sprint for a response.

None so far.
