Feldman Hopes County Fire And Water Departments Will Come To Reason

Written by on February 26, 2019

City manager Reva Feldman says pressure on the County of Los Angeles is mounting …. over the issue of inadequate water service.

One one hand … the county fire department has jacked up requirements for both water flow in neighborhood pipes … and water storage in nearby tanks.

And on the other …. the county waterworks district is not delivering the proper water flow or keeping enough water stored to fight fires.

This may be blocking many of the 480 homeowners who lost their homes in the Woolsey Fire from rebuilding.

Feldman said last night that the two agencies might yield to Malibu’s needs.

“I am very hopeful that our talks are heading in a very positive way.

“And what have asked hopefully to get some resolution in the  week or so back from the water district, and if not what the water district can do to assist us in getting that water flow there.”

In the past several years … LA County has proposed and then withdrawn plans to upgrade Malibu’s water system.

And the current plans for replacing inadequate pipes and tanks are in what local experts say the state of hopeless muddle.

Feldman said burned out residents should expect a resolution to this conundrum soon.
