Half of the drivers on point dooms residential streets are speeding.

72 miles an hour … 76 miles an hour … top speeds on the quiet residential streets are truly alarming.

Those are the peak speeds.

But large Numbers of drivers are routinely speeding at five or 10 miles an hour over the speed limit on doing drive Cliffside and wildlife.

Members of the Malibu public safety commission voted last night to resurrect the idea of speed humps on major roads on Point Dume.

A similar proposal was shut down two years ago by the city council … after the LA County fire department City would slow down their trucks.

Speed humps were canceled for major streets … but were installed on some Piojnt Dume  streets that are not used as neighborhood collector routes.

And … to shame people into driving slower … three traffic radar speeds signs were installed.

And they show a significant speeding problem.

Meeting last night … the public safety commission decided that the risk Pose by blatant speeders outweighs any possible minor delays to fire trucks.

The recommendation will go back to the city council.
