DA’s Office Raids Zuma Jay Surf Shop, Personal House Of Councilman

Malibu mayor pro tem Jefferson Wagner has more than a half dozen police officers raiding his house in the hills above Malibu today.

Search warrants were being executed at three locations in Malibu, according to the L.A. County District Attorney’s office.  KBUU has determined that two of the raids were at the residence outside city limits, in upper Escondido Canyon,  and at the Zuma Jays Surf Shop in central Malibu.

Investigators working for the District Attorney’s office would not disclose any details, including the third location. They work for the chief felony prosecutor’s office, and are not part of the Los Angeles County sheriffs office.

Wagner is in a second term on the Malibu City Council and has rotated into the mayor pro tem position.

His long-term residence is in unincorporated Los Angeles county, outside Malibu city limits, which would make him in eligible to run for city council.

But before running for city council in the 2016 election, Wagner said he bought a condominium within city limits and was living there for the four years of his term.

Wagner was inside his house in the county when the search warrants were executed this morning.
