Costs Explode Beyond Fundraising For 101 Wildlife Bridge

Written by on February 28, 2019

Efforts to build a Liberty Canyon wildlife bridge over the 101 freeway continue.

But fundraising for the effort is way short.

The Thousand Oaks Acorn newspaper is taking a look at the status of the wildlife crossing over the 101 freeway.

Fundraising for the wildlife bridge over the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills is still well short of the amount needed for construction, according to Caltrans.

At first …. Caltrans said the total cost was first set at $55 million.

That’s ballooned up to 65 million.

So far, about $8 million in funds have been raised.

But chief Pratt-Bergstrom isn’t worried.

She tells the Thousand Oaks Acorn that … even if the fundraising continues at its present pace … the bridge will be completed by 2023.

“This is no longer an ‘if’ but a ‘when,’” she says.
