“Corrective action” is being taken by the Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff’s station … to better warn Malibu residents of fires outside the city that are not threatening Malibu.

This comes two days after Malibu officials were -not- rousted in the middle of the night … when the Getty Fire erupted and started making a run towards Malibu.

Captain Matt Vander Horck tells KBUU News improvement was needed … both in terms of notifying officials … and notifying the general public.  [TIGHT CUE]

“So it was brought to our attention by the sheriffs office that Malibu Lost Hills Station could do a better job at notifying people in our community not only when there are fires threatening our community … but also when there are fires nearby that are threatening in our community.

“And we came up with a plan that when there are fires that aren’t immediately threatening, that are not in our area that are not immediately threatening, but are close by, that we would put on information that they are not a threat.”

Vander Horck … the new captain at Malibu Lost Hills . confirms that Lt. Jennifer Seetoo, the former top cop in Malibu, has been transferred by the sheriff to West Hollywood.

At Malibu-Lost Hills … Capt. Vander Horck told KBUU news tonight he is “devastated” by the news, and that Seetoo has been his friend for 16 years.

Seetoo … the former liaison to Malibu … was effectively demoted earlier this month by the sheriff’s command staff.

Lawsuits filed against the sheriff’s department accuse it of frequently using transfers to distant work locations as a punitive measure.

Seetoo is a resident of the Calabasas area.
