Civil War On Point Dume? Battle Cry Of Three Words: ‘Install Speed Humps’

Three words guaranteed to provoke disagreement in Point Dume … install speed humps.
Some residents are adamant that humps need to be installed on Dume Drive … an Fernhill Drive … to slow down the frequently speeding traffic.
Other residents are just as adamant that it is a bad idea … that it will slow down fire trucks.
Last January … the city Public Safety Commission recommended the installation of speed humps on Dume Drive and Fernhill Drive … down at the southern end of the Point Dume neighborhood.
Although speed humps have been installed on some streets on the pint … those streets are residential in nature.
The recommendation from the Public Safety Commission was not presented to the Council Due to the global pandemic.
City staff is asking the city council what to do.
The civil war on Point Dume will be fought again … a week from Monday … at the city council meeting.
