“It is simply an outrage that you’re now saying it’s been allowed all this time. “You may have ignored … it staff may have ignored … some of the enforcement people … they have ignored.

“But it has not been allowed.

“It has been illegal at all times.”

A resident of Big Rock … in eastern malibu … criticized the ordinance for lacking enforcement.

“It’s problematic from the standpoint of enforcement which is what it’s all about.

“It doesn’t have the bright teeth that it would need if this were to be effective at all.”

But this was at least the 11th public meeting on short term rentals at the city hall.

And it was a unanimous city council that approved it.

“It’s an unfortunate thing that not everybody agrees on all of the aspects of this ordinance.

“But I think it’s the right thing for our city Council to move forward with at this time.”

NEWSCART 73021 STR MULLEN

“It’s very frustrating for the people who are super passionate about it.

“And that they disagree on this course of action.

“I understand that.”

Skylar Peak and Rick Mullen.

It was a unanimous vote … 4 to nothing.

Councilman Jefferson Wagner was absent.
