Car Enthusiasts 11 p.m. Gathering Turns Bloody, Throat Slashed At Neptune’s Net

Written by on June 23, 2019

A violent fight in the parking lot at Neptunes Net at 11 last night ends with a 23-year-old man from La Puente dead – his throat slashed and body stabbed multiple times.

The slashing stemmed from a “previously unresolved issue” and was witnessed by a large group of car enthusiasts, gathered in the parking lot of the restaurant, Ventura County deputies said.
Neptune’s Net closes much earlier in the evening, but that location is often crowded late at night with loud cars and their drivers.
Daniel Maldonado, 30, of Ontario (San Bernardino County), was arrested at the scene by Ventura County deputies and California State Parks rangers. Video from the scene showed the suspect sitting on a curb and being interviewed by deputies, the image clearly matches Maldonado’s booking shot released later in the day.
The 23-year-old bled to death in the parking lot, his name has not been released.
P C H was closed for several hours but was reopened by sunrise.
The crime scene is in the unincorporated Malibu section of Ventura County, about one mile west of the L A County line and 1-1/2 miles west of the Malibu city limits.
It comes as dramatically increasing numbers of racers, loud vehicles and lawlessness are observed on PCH at night in Malibu.
