Malibu residents have been looking with alarm at the city of Agoura Hills … which has plans for developers to build massive projects at the corner of Kanan Dume Road at Agoura Road.

That is a key intersection … connecting the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu to the 101 Freeway.

It’s the gateway to the mountains and its an important evacuation route … and Agoura Hills has plans for big hotels … apartments … office buildings and shops.

Agoura Hills has a new mayor now … Illece Buckley Weber.

And she said she plans to lower the city’s carbon footprint, promote environmentally conscious practices.and to reevaluate the plans for the Kanan Road corridor.

That’s according to an interview she gave to the Acorn newspaper.

“Our city is the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains. We have so much to offer and . . . environmental actions will help us maintain our unique character.”
We’ll see.

The city of Agoura Hills has already approved almost 300 new multi-family apartment and condominium units at the corner of Kanan and Agoura.

Also … up to 570,000 square feet of commercial development.

And a three story hotel … with its main entrance on a blind curve on Kanan Road.

This story was reported in the newspaper over the hill … The Acorn.
