The 30-year-old man arrested for murder at Neptune’s Net over the weekend was released from jail Tuesday, according to the Ventura County Star.

Prosecutors are still analyzing the case … according to the Ventura District Attorney’s Office.

Daniel Maldonado has not been charged in the June 22 stabbing death of Omar Payeras, 23, of La Puente.

The prosecutor supervising the major crimes unit in Ventura says her office is still looking over the case that involves many different witnesses.

The victim … a father of two small children … was slashed and stabbed late Saturday in the parking lot of Neptunes Net.

The restaurant had been closed for hours …. its parking lot is frequnetly the scene of car rallies and drinking.

Sheriff’s deputies had said the two men were reportedly involved in a dispute over a “previously unresolved” matter.

This story was reported by the Ventura County Star.

Warning from the Santa Monica police … tomorrow will see a traffic enforcement crackdown down there.

All day Friday … traffic cops will be on the lookout for behavior that puts “roadway users at risk” during a safety enforcement operation.

“These violations include drivers speeding, making illegal turns, failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, failing to stop for signs and signals or any other dangerous violation,” police said.

It also includes pedestrians who “cross the street illegally or fail to yield to drivers who have the right of way,” officials said.

In addition, officers will look for bicyclists and e-scooter riders who violate the law by riding on the sidewalk, not complying with stop signs and signals, or riding on the wrong side of the road, police said.

Bicyclists should always wear a helmet, which are required by law for those under 18.

From the what were they thinking department … a Request by the Starbucks coffee conglomerate to tear out three giant oak trees so they can put in a drive-through window at a Starbucks in a great Hills has been rejected.

The Agoura Hills Planning Commission voted unanimously June 20 to deny a drive-thru lane at the Starbucks coffee store in a shopping center on Cannon Road … about a mile north of the 101 freeway.

Starbucks wanted to rip out the existing store … plus three massive valley oak trees … to make room for the new one-story building and reconfigured parking lot.

A fourth tree … a towering 200-year-old heritage oak tree … would have 52% of its root area covered with pavement.

The acorn newspaper …in Agoura Hills … reports that residents worried that read like a death sentence for the tree.

No comment from Starbucks.

The man making those allegation says he has a acquaintance of his … whose name he cannot reveal … who has delivered the evidence and testimony to the FBI.

The man says he will be taking his evidence to the FBI … soon.
