City Plans Changes To Emergency Ops Plan Soon

City emergency services director Susan Duenas says the City of Malibu is going to make some changes to its emergency operations plan … as a result of the Woolsey Fire.

Duenas appeared before the Malibu city council meeting last night.

She says the Woolsey Fire showed area that need improvement.

Evacuations … roadblocks … communication were all unmitigated disasters during the fire.

Duenas says the city has learned.

NEWSCART 06583 DUENAS PLAN  :33  QQ COMMUNICATIOSN PLAN

Our emergency operations plan has been updated.
“It actually has just been approved by the state.

“But we do want to look at some area of the plan that maybe did not work for us as well in some places as we would like. “

We are going to be looking at some places that we could improve on, including we want to hire a traffic consultant to help us improve the evacuation plan.

“We want to relook at the repopulation policies to see if there’s any room for changes there.

“And also to develop a more comprehensive communications plan.”

Other changes are likely as well… as malibu city hall is rocked by furious public reaction to what is viewed as … at best … a government failure.
