5,000 New Cell Antennas To Hit Thousand Oaks, City Estimates

Written by on March 29, 2019

Malibu is about to be hit with a tidal wave of cell phone antennas.

Just like every other city in Southern California.

The new antennas will deliver so-called 5-G service … a newer use of frequencies that are higher than currently used.

The 5-G signals do not travel very far.

Thus … many new antennas will crop on power poles.

How many???

Not sure … but Thousand Oaks estimates 5 thousand new cell sites in 5 years.

And the new rules from the business-friendly F C C include limiting cities to just 60 days to approve the antennas.

And cities cannot turn the applications down over fears of electromagnetic radiation … or worries about them being ugly.

The 60 day application deadline means the cell companies can bypass city approval and install the antennas where ever they want.

That means no time for public hearings or appeals.

Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against the new FCC rules … the lawsuits argue that the F C C policy requires cities to surrender their public property to the cell phone companies.
