Mitch McConnell Told “A Complete Lie” About Malibu – Mikke Pierson Says

Malibu Mayor Mikke Pierson says Mitch McConnell is a liar.
Not that anyone in Washington will notice.
Last week …. the Senate Majority leader hoisted up Malibu as an example of self-indulgent …. selfish thinking.
MvConnell made fu n of malibu for supposedly requesting 500 million dollars to buy electric cars.
Totally not accurate.
Totally out of context.
But red meat for Fox News … and the chowderheads on LA’s “more-stimulated talk radio station.”
Malibu’s mayor waited until last night’s city Council meeting to fire back …
Pierson thus effectively ceded the ground to the Washington bigmouth until the issue had long faded from the national news cycles.

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell went on various news outlets and claimed that Malibu was asking for $500 million for electric cars another versions of that.
“Five hundred million dollars.
“That is a gross mischaracterization … ot a complete lie on what I wrote in the letter.”
The local issue – of course – is why the mayor of Malibu would send out a letter on a national political issue without bringing it up to the city council first.
The city council does have a written policy not to do that.
Of course that written policy ignores the mayor’s First Amendment right to speak as the mayor.

“Some people have questioned how or why I could send that letter on my own without discussing it with council.
“Ordinarily that would happen.
“But this was time sensitive and advocating was exactly the reason why we’re elected.
“This is what we do on city council.
“And I will never stop advocating for Malibu and joining with other cities when we need strength in numbers.
“Never.
“And those that question the danger of an elected official sending a letter sending a letter because God knows what they will say … yeah you are right.
“And there’s a lot of evidence for this.
“You just have to look at Washington DC and or Mitch McConnell to see proof.”
