10 Minute PCH Delays Spur Charge Of Voter Obstruction By Winning Candidate

Written by on November 5, 2020

Malibu voters who wonder what kind of city council we have elected … got a taste on Tuesday.

City council candidate took to the Facebook platform … and accused the City of Malibu of obstructing access to Voting Centers by Malibu residents who live east of Malibu Canyon.

The claimed voting access obstruction?

A road construction project that has been underway for six weeks.

Plus … new roadwork at PCH at Malibu Canyon … which caused a five to 10 minute delay.

“This may well be illegal and will need to be examined after the election” warned Silverstein.

He complained … on Facebook … that “every Malibu resident who lives east of Malibu Canyon, and who has not voted yet, must sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic that extends for many blocks in order to get to a Voting Center.”

We checked.

The delay was 5 to 10 minutes.

Silverstein … who won a seat on the city council … asks “is it a coincidence that the City decided to start the roadwork on PCH and Malibu Canyon Road yesterday?

“Then again, many people say that there is no such thing as a true coincidence.”

Again … the delay was five to 10 minutes.
