Fires In NorCal Prompt Tweet From President

As fires burn across California … this tweet from the President of the United States … about the California fires.

The president just said .. and we quote …

“California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized.

“It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean.

“Must also tree clear to stop fire spreading!”

Across the state … The Mendocino Complex fire continued to grow at an alarming rate, burning more than 266,000 acres by Sunday morning and becoming the 4th largest fire in California history.

Further north, near Redding, residents began returning Saturday to neighborhoods ravaged by the Carr fire, which has been linked to the death of seven people and has destroyed more than 1,000 homes.

A Pacific gas and Electric electrical worker was killed in the Carr fire … that;’s fatality number 7.

The 266 thousand blaze has simmered for nearly two weeks … it’s 43% contained as of last night.

The Ferguson fired new Yosemite continues to grow … it’s 38% contained.

Yosemite Valley is closed … but Tioga Pass is open.

Red Flag Warnings are up for the area north of Malibu … along Interstate 5 near the Grapevine.

Also .. Santa Barbara County.

Here in Malibu … we’re in a heat advisory … and winds in the Malibu mountains are not expected to be very strong at all.

But it is going to be hot … with breezes coming off the desert.

Highs today in Calabasas and Agoura Hills … 106 degrees.

108 tomorrow.

Along the coast … about 85 … depending on how close to to the ocean.

The heat wave is expected to continue all week … and by Wednesday inland thunderstorms and coastal humidity will be added to the mix.
