The Santa Monica Mountains have given up one secret as result of the fire.

A human skull and other bones were found in Latigo Canyon last week … according to sheriff’s deputies.

A home owner checking his property about a mile north of Ocean View Boulevard … about 4 miles north of Pacific Coast Highway … found a skull last week.

He was able to report the grisly discovery to sheriff deputies last Saturday.

Sheriffs deputies tell the Los Angeles Times that the bones probably were hidden in thick brush above pathway … and were dislodged as the Woolsey fire swept through November 9th.

Pathologist believe that the person had died before the fire … between six months and 50 years ago.

Sheriff’s homicide bureau investigators combed to the area and found a few fragments of human remains … and some animal bones.

But there’s no idea yet as to whose skull was uncovered by the fire.
