Council Rejects Surprise Car Museum Plan

Written by on June 12, 2018

In other city council news … a request for a time extension … to allow a classic car museum to be built on PCH at Billionaires Beach … was denied by the city council last night.

It was a complicated case … developer Norm Haney had been given a 2-year permit to build the museum building …

This was back in 20-10 … Haney was given two years to start construction on an office building.

This is at the site where that rag-tag green car wash … a the former Shell gas station … sits next to multimillion dollar properties.

He got delay after delay …and finally the city said no more.

Last night was the first time Haney revealed the office building was actually going to be a car museum.

But Haney was hedging his bet … while he wants the car museum building okayed … but what he really wants to do is build a hotel entrance there … with the rest of the hotel up the hill … in a repurposed office building.

By a 3-2 vote … the city council rejected the time extension for the office building slash car museum … and told the developer to come back to the council with the hotel plan.

Haney thanked the council … and said that is exactly what he will do.
