City To Explain Emergency Notifications Tonight

Written by on April 26, 2018

While tonight’s school meeting at Point Dume was called on short notice… but the City of Malibu has for weeks had a town hall meeting scheduled for tonight … on emergency notifications.

44 people were killed in sudden and vicious brushfires the Santa Rosa area last winter … and problems with emergency notifications we’re blamed for many of the deaths.

20 people were killed in the mud flows in Montecito last winter … again … problems with emergency evacuation order is either not being issued … not being transmitted … or not being understood.

Tonight … the city of Malibu will explain the three or four various emergency warning systems that they use locally.

Emergency services director Susan Duenas.

NEWSCART 77535 TOWNHALLDUENAS :20 QQQQ: MAY NOT PREPARE PROPERLY.

“People need to understand how this works, how they are going to be notified, and then what they need to make sure that they can get out in time.

“Because if you are just thinking it is going to happen in one certain way, and then that’s not what happens, you may not prepare appropriately.”

The town hall is tonight at 7 … at Malibu City Hall … and we understand there will be cookies.
